Readers

The title ‘Reader’ is given to a student employed as a ‘course assistant.’ Typical duties include grading student papers and exams. These are different duties than those assigned to graduate Teaching Assistants. Qualified undergraduate students and, on occasion, graduate students may serve as Readers. A 3.0 GPA and evidence of satisfactory progress toward graduation are required for appointment as a Reader. Priority is given to applicants who have previously completed the courses for which they will serve as a Reader. Applicants must be current UCI students.

The time commitment and duties associated with a Reader appointment vary depending on the needs of the course assigned. Duties and workload can be impacted by enrollment numbers as well as the number and variety of assignments. If selected to serve as a Reader, you will be contacted by a staff member for next steps.
