This process is for students who have taken a leave of absence or been dismissed from UC Irvine. Review the steps and criteria below, then submit your application when ready.
Process
- Review the eligibility criteria below and confirm you meet the requirements.
- Submit the Readmission Application by the posted deadline. Applications received after the deadline are reviewed on a case-by-case basis and may result in limited course availability.
- If you completed any courses outside of UC Irvine while away, submit official transcripts to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions.
- After your readmission is processed, pay the $70 non-refundable readmission fee.
- If you have been away from UC Irvine for over a year, submit a Statement of Legal Residence.
- Enroll in courses.
Eligibility Criteria
To readmit into the School of Social Ecology, you must demonstrate the ability to succeed academically by achieving a minimum 2.0 GPA in all three of the following areas:
Overall UCI GPA
Upper Division Major GPA — all upper division courses applied to school and major requirements in DegreeWorks
School GPA — all Social Ecology school and major requirements
You must also be able to meet normal progress requirements and graduate in a timely manner. For students who entered UCI in Fall 2011 or later, a maximum of 216 units is permitted after their 12th quarter of study. (Academic Senate Regulation 386 — Credit Hour Unit Limit)
If Any of Your GPAs Are Below 2.0

Transferring from a Different UCI School into Social Ecology
In addition to meeting the criteria above, please complete the following:
Review the change of major requirements for your intended major. Courses needed to meet these criteria may be taken at UCI, or equivalent courses may be taken at a community college.
