UC IGETC/Cal-GETC Information

What is a UC IGETC/Cal-GETC?

Intersegmental General Education Transfer Curriculum (IGETC) or California General Education Transfer Curriculum (Cal-GETC). IGETC and Cal-GETC are sequences of courses, certified by the California community colleges, that you complete in order to satisfy the freshman/sophomore-level general education requirements at UC.

How do I know if I have a UC IGETC/Cal-GETC?

You can check your DegreeWorks to see- if the General Education section is showing you need to complete a lot of courses, we do not have your UC IGETC/Cal-GETC.

If you recently submitted your UC IGETC/Cal-GETC, please submit a DegreeWorks Update form so our counselors can notate its completion.

You must contact your community college and have them submit an official UC IGETC/CalGETC to UCI Undergraduate Admissions.

What if I don't have a UC IGETC/Cal-GETC?

If you are transferring from another UC, please request that your UC send us a Letter of Reciprocity. They can email it directly to se.advising@uci.edu.

If you are transferring from a non-UC 4 year institution, please reach out to us so that we can process a GE Evaluation for you.

If you are transferring from a California Community College, you very likely have a UC IGETC or Cal-GETC. We will continue to request that you submit one ASAP otherwise, you will be held to UCI GE requirements as outlined on your DegreeWorks.
